Caucasian Sumak Early SOLD

Description

This breathtaking early Sumak was woven in Eastern Caucasus in the mid 19th century. The stunning saffron yellow border has been adorned with eight-pointed-stars enclosing swastikas, stars and hooked motifs. The delicate brick red field is enriched by three large sky blue medallions and by a large number of stylised symbols. Solomon’s seal, rosettes, endless knots, dragons and ram’s horns. The piece is in excellent condition.
