Turkmen Yomut spindle bag
A particularly charming small spindle bag, known among the Turkmen as an Igsalyk, complete with its original plain-weave back. These utilitarian bags were traditionally suspended inside the yurt and used to hold the implements and materials required for the hand-spinning of wool.
Preserved in an exceptionally complete and untouched state, this example retains its original plain-weave reverse together with its finely decorative tassels, offering a beautiful glimpse into the everyday material culture of the Turkmen people.
