An incredibly rare Engelas carpet from the Hamadan area, woven with a charming female figure at the centre against a striking checkerboard background, At the bottom. the carpet depicts Reza Shah Pahlavi alongside the royal emblem of the Lion and Sun (Shir o Khorshid), giving the piece a fascinating historical dimension. A wonderfully quirky pictorial carpet, full of character and unexpected details.
