Description
Benlian was a British-Armenian firm enstabilished in Tabriz in the early 1900s opening a workshop. The company specialized in high quality Persian carpets and their drawings were inspired by early Safavid carpets and its symbol is the famous ‘Benlian Star’, usually placed at the top right corner. The rugs, were woven by great Tabrizi Masters such as Jabbarzadeh, Ghanadi, Alabaf etc…
This Hunting Benlian piece was woven in an unusual size in the 20s and features a Hunting design on ivory field and a light pink border. The rug is in perfect condition, full pile.
