Tabriz ‘Benlian’

Description

Benlian was a British-Armenian firm enstabilished in Tabriz in the early 1900s opening a workshop. The company specialized in high quality Persian carpets and their drawings were inspired by early Safavid carpets and its symbol is the famous ‘Benlian Star’, usually placed at the top right corner. The rugs, were woven by great Tabrizi Masters such as Jabbarzadeh, Ghanadi, Alabaf etc…

This breathtaking and very rare Tabriz ‘Benlian’ was knotted by the great Master Mahmood Jabbarzadeh and shows inspirations from Indian and Chinese arts, with elephants and phoenixes masterfully displayed. The carpet features a sublime color palette and is in excellent condition for its age.
