Stunning Kerman Lavar

Description

A mirrored naturalistic design divided by a central axis has been masterfully drawn by a talented weaver. This fantastic top quality Kerman so called ‘Ravar’ or ‘Lavar’ was finely knotted in the late 19th century with soft and shiny kurk wool in an unusually long format. Among colorful trees and flowers lions, tigers, birds and deers have been displayed on a deep blue field. The most striking feature of the piece is definitely the rare minor border showing flowers alternating with a small human face. Among the minor borders a main burgundy border has been drawn enclosing palmettes linked by vines. The carpet is in overall excellent condition for its age.
