Tabriz Signed ‘Mehdizadeh’ SOLD
Description
Mehdizadeh (signature on top) is one of the most important and renowned masters of Tabriz from the first half of the 20th century. A wild genius, his woven artworks display unusual and rare designs with fabulous, vibrant color compositions. His creations blend the historical Persian Safavid tradition (as seen in the border, in this case) with early 1900s Western influences, resulting in something truly unique. For instance, note the medallion and the overall architecture of this piece—so beautiful!
In addition, Mehdizadeh’s Tabriz carpets are extraordinarily fine, finer than the average Tabriz rugs produced during the same period.
In excellent condition.
