Tabriz ‘Benlian’

Description

Tabriz masterpiece woven in the 20s/30s in the Benlian Workshop in Tabriz. The piece is knotted and signed by the master Haj Hassan Ranghraz Alabaf. Benlian was a British-Armenian firm enstabilished in Tabriz in the early 1900s opening a workshop specialized in high quality Persian carpets and reproduction of early Safavid carpets. This large example features an unusual colour palette with an ‘apricot’ field colour and a floral pattern surrounded by a dark blue field enriched by palmettes. The piece is in overall good condition for its age.
