Bakhshayesh Masterpiece

Description

Stunning and extremely rare oversized Bakhshayesh carpet woven in Northwestern Persia in the mid 19th century. Bakhshayesh is a small village in the area of Heriz and it’s famous for its archaic designs and the lighter colour palette compared to the examples woven in Heriz.

This rare example features an all-over design with an elegant ivory field enriched with styilised cypresses, flowers and human figures. The piece is in overall good condition for its age (about 180-160 years).
