Caucasian Kuba Sumak

Description

A rare small Sumak finely woven in the late 19th century in Kuba (Northeastern Caucasus) and featuring five hexagons vertically placed in the center of the red field. The field is also adorned by ‘S’ motifs, blossoms and triangular shapes with ram’s horns in the outlines. The field is surrounded by the so called ‘eagle’s beak’ border. The piece is in perfect condition.
