Kuba Afshan ‘1882’
Description
This super large kelleh from the Kuba region features the so-called ‘Afshan’ or ‘Shah Abbas’ design with the repetition of circular and star-shaped blossoms linked by white angular vines decorated with the typical forked leaf designs on a blue field. The Kufic border surrounds the field. The piece is in full pile, perfect, condition and is dated ‘1300’ (1882).
