Caucasian Konakend Sumak

Description

An extraordinary Konakend Sumak woven in the Kuba region in the third quarter of the 19th century and featuring four dark blue medallion with octagonal centres and greend/blue octagons laterally offset against them combine into a design block, which is separated by large arrows. The deep red field is also adorned by an outer section decorated by diverse motifs such as palmettes, stars, lozenges and Harshang. The piece is in very good condition for its age.
