Mujur

Description

The lack of symmetry and apparent logic of the blue abrash in the upper part of the field are the most striking features of this sublime Anatolian Mujur carpet. Knotted in the late 19th century, the running-water outer border surrounds the main border which displays small stylised flowers alternating with rectangular shapes enclosing zig-zag motifs on an oxidized dark brown. Three Elibelinde motifs are drawn in the lower and upper panels of the field which encloses a large red adorned hexagon. The colors are simply outstanding. The piece is in nearly perfect condition.
